不少網友可能會對最近台灣本田所推出的CR-V感到相當好奇，畢竟，同樣的引擎每家都有，那又為什麼偏偏他們家的CR-V的DOHC i-VTEC引擎特別的讚？那又是讚在哪裡？

其實這款DOHC i-VTEC引擎真的是相當的不賴；i-VTEC 的中文意思為“智慧型可變汽門正時與揚程系統”，當然霹靂啪啦的一長串專業名詞到底代表著些什麼？其實i-VTEC系統表示能夠在不同轉速提供完美的燃燒效率，改進了燃燒效率、減低了進氣阻力，達到充足的動力表現與油耗經濟性，也同時具有 V6 引擎般的運轉靜肅性，能夠同時兼顧動力輸出與傑出的經濟性與環保性。

理論上進氣門關閉後，排氣門便會開啟排出燃燒後的廢氣，但是因為油氣間的黏滯性，還有汽缸之間各元件的摩擦力，總是在進氣門未完全關閉之時，排氣門就已經提早開啟，造成動力的流失，而為了改善這樣的動力流失，各車廠的工程師莫不努力發展新的科技，其中HONDA的工程師研發出VTEC，其憑著自然進氣搭配上電子感應器的方式，使用兩個不同角度的凸輪，在低轉速時用小角度凸輪，高轉速時切換成較大角度的凸輪，藉由自動偵測引擎轉速、車速、水溫、等各項條件，依行車狀況的不同自行判定凸輪的更換。讓容積馬力比超過10：1，也就是說排氣量只有1500CC的車子，輸出的馬力值卻能超過150匹。

由於VTEC引擎是一種能夠因應駕駛者的動力需求，配合調整汽門開啟的角度與時間，以達成提升動力與燃油效率的需求。因此，VTEC引擎具有小排氣量高動力輸出、燃油效率提升、高動力輸出、引擎體積的小型化等好處。在台灣本田推出的第一輛車二代CR-V上掛上了2.0DOHC i-VTEC引擎後，相信很快的，台灣的駕駛朋友很快可以了解到DOHC i-VTEC引擎的好處了！
