HONDA Civic（2）-VTEC科技樹立高聲譽

目前只要談到HONDA，馬上就和VTEC劃上等號，如果沒有此一裝置，根本就與本田家族無緣，然而這項科技，卻歷經10多年時間才搬上檯面，並演進成八代的三階段新技術。
1973年第一代Civic在推出的1年之後，推出的CVCC（稀薄燃燒）科技引擎，在高功率之下，仍維持的超低量的NOx（一氧化碳）排放。1979第2代車型推出時，HONDA除了將CVCC技術提升之外，也首次在Civic車系中採用5速手排與3速Hondamatic自動變速箱。
3代車型則是12氣門引擎全面導入，當時市場都還是以8氣門為主。到了4代車型時則是HONDA有史以來最重要的VTEC科技的出現，這項移植自F1賽車引擎科技的VTEC技術於1989年問世，也將HONDA的聲譽推向新高峰，迄今所有與HONDA的聯想，VTEC技術絕對是排頭位。
5代車型則是有變易車型CRX的電動硬頂設計，第6代Civic則出現以天然氣為燃料的Civic GX。到了最新第7代Civic時也推出效率最高的Civic Hybrid油電共生車，在表現上遠遠超越TOYOTA Prius；以上種種科技，就是Civic這30多年來的點滴，所以若要論世界第一的國民車，Civic實在是當之無愧，堪稱小型房車中的經典。
