    HONDA Civic(5)-蛻變:3代Wonder Civic 1983年-1987年

為了進軍歐洲市場,HONDA可是絞盡腦汁,最後仍將希望全寄託在3代Civic上,此舉果然獲得消費者認同;尤其更具跑格的外觀設計,加上更精進的動力底盤結構,幾乎成為年輕消費者的購車首選。

第3代Wonder Civic推出時,HONDA為了將Civic推向更多更廣的不同市場,所以在車型方面多出了Shuttle車型與CRX。Shuttle在概念上就是今日流行的MPV(多功能休旅車),而CRX則是衍生自3門Civic掀背車款的另一種個性車型。Wonder Civic在設計手法與理念上大量採用歐洲風格,所以在線條上已經明顯跳脫1代、2代的純東洋作風,所以歐洲市場在接受度上已經大大提高,同時Wonder Civic也在1984年的都靈車展中得到Car-Design-Award的獎項。

另一項3代Civic的卓越設計就是動力系統全面12氣門化,大幅領先當時車壇的傳統8氣門。12氣門的特性在於改變燃燒室特性,最大的優點就是低排放污染與引擎扭力的大幅提升;同時3代Civic在1985年時就全面採用噴射引擎設計與採用觸媒轉化器,第一具Civic使用的噴射引擎為4缸1.5升,出力為90hp馬力。

另外在新車款CRX方面,則是吸引了年輕的消費族群,同時在CRX上的動力系統,HONDA也調校為100hp出力,所以CRX是世界第一輛1.5升自然進氣量產車能夠在10秒內完成0-100km/h加速;另外Honda於隨後的1985年推出1.6升DOHC的ZC引擎,出力更高達130hp馬力,將CRX的運動表現推向另一巔峰。最後在Civic Shuttle車型上,HONDA則是創下了最新的用車概念,同時Shuttle也在1985年後配置了自動排檔搭配全時四輪傳動設計,也是全球第一。
