HONDA Civic（5）-蛻變：3代Wonder Civic 1983年-1987年

為了進軍歐洲市場，HONDA可是絞盡腦汁，最後仍將希望全寄託在3代Civic上，此舉果然獲得消費者認同；尤其更具跑格的外觀設計，加上更精進的動力底盤結構，幾乎成為年輕消費者的購車首選。
第3代Wonder Civic推出時，HONDA為了將Civic推向更多更廣的不同市場，所以在車型方面多出了Shuttle車型與CRX。Shuttle在概念上就是今日流行的MPV（多功能休旅車），而CRX則是衍生自3門Civic掀背車款的另一種個性車型。Wonder Civic在設計手法與理念上大量採用歐洲風格，所以在線條上已經明顯跳脫1代、2代的純東洋作風，所以歐洲市場在接受度上已經大大提高，同時Wonder Civic也在1984年的都靈車展中得到Car-Design-Award的獎項。
另一項3代Civic的卓越設計就是動力系統全面12氣門化，大幅領先當時車壇的傳統8氣門。12氣門的特性在於改變燃燒室特性，最大的優點就是低排放污染與引擎扭力的大幅提升；同時3代Civic在1985年時就全面採用噴射引擎設計與採用觸媒轉化器，第一具Civic使用的噴射引擎為4缸1.5升，出力為90hp馬力。
另外在新車款CRX方面，則是吸引了年輕的消費族群，同時在CRX上的動力系統，HONDA也調校為100hp出力，所以CRX是世界第一輛1.5升自然進氣量產車能夠在10秒內完成0-100km/h加速；另外Honda於隨後的1985年推出1.6升DOHC的ZC引擎，出力更高達130hp馬力，將CRX的運動表現推向另一巔峰。最後在Civic Shuttle車型上，HONDA則是創下了最新的用車概念，同時Shuttle也在1985年後配置了自動排檔搭配全時四輪傳動設計，也是全球第一。
