HONDA一向在引擎科技的研發上，不遺餘力，源自賽車各項技術，讓HONDA的引擎，無論在動力輸出或是油耗表現上，都有著領先對手的優異表現。

全新上市的HONDA Civic，除了主打的1.8升車型，另有頂級的2.0升車款，其搭載了已於HONDA CR-V、Accord等車款上使用的K20系列引擎，而到了Civic身上，該具引擎原廠代號為K20Z2，排氣量為1998cc，具備i-VTEC可變氣門正時與揚程機制，動力輸出在周邊負載相對較低下，最大馬力為155hp/6200rpm，峰值扭力則為19.2kgm/4500rpm，搭配SMT序列式五速手自排變速系統，並具備Paddle Shift方向盤後置式換檔機制。

依照全新Civic的原廠數據，已是國產車2.0升中型房車中的最佳表現，而在HONDA的試駕活動中，幾乎所有的路段都是以高速巡航為主，在由高雄大鵬灣前往墾丁的路上，數十公里的高速路段，正好是這顆高轉速屬性引擎的最佳試煉場，也再次顯現HONDA於動力上的優勢。

在全新的Civic中全數導入ETC電子節氣門機制，賦予更為精準的油門反應，在試駕過程中，重踩油門，動力輸出綿延順暢，起步加速力道與再加速動能明顯優於1.8升車型，隨著轉速不斷提高，直至紅線之前都不會有力竭的現象，無論是以自排模式，或是改以手動換擋，都不會影響Civic所帶來的暢快，在平均時速120~130km/h以上的奔馳中，感受到全新Civic 2.0升車型，在整體動力表現上，在國產相近等級車種中，應難有對手。

然而文前提到，HONDA近年來除了讓引擎更具高性能外，也致力於降低引擎的油耗，依照能源局公佈的數據，Civic 2.0升車型，平均每公升燃油可行駛14.4公里，高速更可達18.32公里，幾乎達到一般1.6升房車的水準，甚至更好，在兩天的試駕中，在負重較高，且幾乎所有路段都是深踩油門、高於一般行車速率的情況下，行駛近270公里，同樣有平均每公升11~12公里以上的表現，若依2.0升引擎車種而言，已可算是高水準的演出了！
