在2005年東京車展中，HONDA推出一款超未來的概念車FCX Concept，原本大家都以為這輛四門燃料電池車僅是創作，然而HONDA卻宣布將把它量產化，時間則在2008年.....。
對於FCX要量產化的訊息可不是子虛烏有，這消息可是從日本HONDA社長福井威夫親口說的，因為在日前原廠邀請當地專業媒體進行FCX Concept的試駕活動，結果在會後福井威夫對眾人宣布這項好消息。根據了解，量產版的FCX外觀造型與概念車差不多，但細部將會多作修飾，內裝方面依然採取寬敞無障礙的格局，並導入豪華科技的配備。
動力上仍維持氫燃料電池的FCX量產車，其可輸出100kw的燃料電池組容量增加20％，重量則減少30％，因此續航力也比概念車更進步，極速則擁有160km/h以上的實力。這因為驅動馬達與驅動軸採輕量化設計，光是動力元組重量只有180公斤，所以能提供四名成人非常寬敞舒適的空間。
不過既然是燃料電池，又是量產車型，FCX應該不便宜吧！原廠目前訂出每年生產20-30輛的目標，且將總生產成本壓在日幣1億圓以內，也就是新台幣約3300萬元，算一算每一輛差不多新台幣110萬元，雖然比TOYOTA Prius貴些，但這可是完全無污染。
至於何時量產，最快為2008年先在美國銷售，然後再回到日本。
