夢幻的S2000 Type R，HONDA開發計畫打住！

1999年誕生的S2000，是HONDA旗下唯一沒有和「Type R」沾上邊的性能跑車，然而早在2002年原廠有一份S2000 Type R開發計畫書，但最後卻因金額成本過高而胎死腹中。
其實HONDA要開發S2000 Type R於2001年時就有消息傳出，甚至HONDA都已經準備所有開發相關事宜，就連規格都開出來，為輕量化碳纖維電動硬頂敞篷結構，Type R專用內裝、機械式LSD差速器、強化式煞車系統、專用懸吊底盤結構、輪胎尺寸由205/55R16變成205/45R17等，且馬力輸出進行調校後可突破260hp，看到這些項目是否會讓人心動呢？
不過這輛規劃中的S2000 Type R非但沒有量產，甚至S2000都將停產卻無緣面世。因為光開發就要價日幣2億圓，約新台幣7000萬元左右，而這種小眾市場的產品竟然要付出如此代價，對HONDA而言確實划不來，因此整個計畫就此打住。
如今隨著S2000即將停產，Type R版本開發計畫也跟著消失，但未來是否會有後繼新車出現，並頂著R的光環，相信只有HONDA相關人員知道。
