在TOYOTA的眼中，最可敬的對手可是HONDA，而在HONDA心裡死對頭只有TOYOTA，尤其當Yaris一問世後旋即搶了Fit在日本的風采，這可讓HONDA不是滋味，所以雪恥要以新車型來報仇。
原本第一代Fit在2001年六月發表到2002年六月整整一年，在日本創下銷售250790輛的光榮成績，讓TOYOTA Corolla長達34年的冠軍出現缺憾，然而當TOYOTA派出Yaris後Fit受到莫大打擊，縱使至今銷售每月接近1萬輛，卻離Yaris有段差距，尤其當第二代Yaris誕生後，這個差距更為明顯，因此HONDA在多年前便潛心開發新Fit，誓言要打敗TOYOTA Yaris。
如今根據AutoNet所獲得的獨家消息，經過六年的臥薪嘗膽，新Fit即將在今年十月面世，車身長度較現行款長50mm，達3895mm，寬度增加20mm為1695mm，高度則維持在1525mm，且在全新開發的底盤平台上，軸距獲得接近1.6升房車標準的2450mm，並在平整化底板的幫助下，創造更寬敞的車室空間。
以小型掀背車的標準來看，新Fit的行李廂容量可算不小，從既有的382公升增加至400公升左右，若配合座椅變化，空間運用與小型Minivan或轎式休旅車可不相上下；且HONDA為了爭取更多的空間也取消備胎，這似乎是現在車廠對小型車空間的解決方案。動力方面，HONDA針對Fit開發兩具全新i-VTEC引擎，排氣量分別為1.3升和1.5升，最大動力可能在87-115hp之間，且1.5升手排將設定為運動版。
而台灣方面最快在2008年第三季之後會導入國產化，屆時不僅在日本當地，也會在台灣、美國等地和Yaris展開一場廝殺，至於鹿死誰手就待正式量產吧！
