為了慶祝西元2000年的到來，HONDA推出一款名為S2000的敞篷雙座跑車，如今S2000有了哥哥，竟然叫做S5000！這S5000到底是何方神聖？
在動力科技有著卓越成就的日本HONDA，V10引擎更是由F1賽車經驗所得到的結晶，如今這具有著特殊聲浪的心臟，即將搭載於量產車上，因為在德國紐柏林賽道上，就有目擊者發現一輛類似S2000的雙門四座跑車在賽道上奔馳，因此AutoNet懷疑這是否為NSX的後繼車，或者是大一號的S2000。
早在兩年前就一直喧囂塵上的NSX後繼車消息，一度因HONDA公開表示不再研發NSX而終止，然而福井威夫社長卻又宣布NSX後繼車計畫照常進行，這可讓人看了一頭霧水。因此在底特律車展所展現的Advanced Sport Concept概念作品，單就尺碼和型態來看儼然就是下一代的NSX。而隨著五月底在美國加州成立的ACURA設計工作室，再加上紐柏林賽道出現「類S2000」跑車，不禁令人猜測NSX可能會再度復活。
根據AutoNet所獲得的訊息顯示，這輛在紐柏林出現的「類S2000」跑車，姑且就讓我們稱為「S5000」吧！雖然是以S2000的車殼進行重度偽裝，但可看出軸距更長，為了極度保密，這僅是進行底盤和引擎操控性的調校測試，外觀造型或許仍在做最後修改；內裝上為2+2的座椅配置，而直立四排氣尾管也與現行S2000有所不同，但這和先前AutoNet所報導有關NSX後繼車有些雷同。再者從目擊者敏銳的「聽覺」發現，引擎應該是V10心臟，倘若是V10，那排氣量勢必會超過4.0升，所以在AutoNet明查暗訪下終於得到答案！這具V10引擎排氣量介於4.5-5.0升之間，最大輸出馬力為500-550hp左右，這可是HONDA市售車有史以來最大排氣量和汽缸數！
而這輛S5000到底什麼時候會出現？最快應該在2007年十月東京車展時會露面，不過仍處於概念車或Prototype階段，量產車型至少要等到2008年紐約車展吧！而何時會開賣，別急，恐怕要到2009年以後！
