為了地球環保，歐盟將在2012年實施更為嚴苛的環保法規，對於車廠來說，對應法規的動力科技與車款開發就成為當急之務，而日本HONDA就為了五期法規做出因應對策，那就是以Fit為基礎研發更多小型車，並導入Hybrid與柴油技術到歐規車款上。
將以Jazz之名在歐洲販售的Fit，可是HONDA具備高科技的小型乘用車，然而即將在2010年實施的歐盟五期Euro5環保法規，因針對汽車排放廢氣的標準更為嚴苛，恐將影響接下來HONDA的產品計畫，為此HONDA決定以Jazz為基礎開發小型車，同時也將Hybrid與柴油引擎列為日後的主力產品。根據瞭解HONDA未來導入歐洲的車款，除了小排氣量的Jazz，全新開發的Hybrid小跑車CR-Z，與搭載柴油引擎的Accord和CR-V都是商品主力，另外也針對歐洲環境開發小型車。
不過現階段歐盟針對Euro5及Euro6的標準尚未有明確數據，因此HONDA也只能盡全力來達到低標。根據HONDA社長福井威夫表示，環保之路必是未來的趨勢，因此將以柴油和Hybrid兩項科技當作因應對策，當然也不排除替Fit/Jazz搭載這兩套系統。
然而面對越來越嚴苛的法規還不只是HONDA，全球車廠幾乎都陷入苦思當中，甚至連德國老字號的雙B，也必須研發出能符合標準的車款，否則在銷售上必會碰到困境。
