    HONDA差點成為MITSUBISHI一員,端賴第一代Odyssey

包山包海又包天空的HONDA,居然曾有經營不善還差點變成MITSUBISHI一員的年代,而挽救這家公司的可是中大型轎式休旅車第一代Odyssey!

不說你一定不知道,1990年代HONDA因銷售陷入苦戰中導致財務發生問題,甚至經由日本三菱銀行為仲介向MITSUBISHI提出合作計畫,然而要將本田宗一郎一手創建的HONDA帝國讓出,肯定是所有本田人最不捨也最不願意見到的情況,因此在1994年HONDA決定放手一搏,推出全尺寸的轎式休旅車Odyssey。

第一代Odyssey採用五代Accord底盤平台為基礎,擁有4750×1770×1675mm車體,但軸距增加了約11cm,因此創造出更為寬敞的車室空間,同時擁有Minivan高度與低底盤的配置,再加上頗有子彈列車造型的設計感,與直四2.2升引擎(145hp/20.0kgm),一問世就在日本市場造成轟動,每月銷售量已是4000輛目標的好幾倍,當然這輛車更因此挽救HONDA的財務危機,從此化解了HONDA成為MITSUBISHI臣屬的可能性,也讓HONDA進軍RV領域吃下定心丸。

正因為有了Odyssey的成功,HONDA開始研發轎式底盤休旅車的可能性,就在這樣的契機下才有CR-V的誕生。
