HONDA推出印度第一台油電車Civic油電版，據車廠表示，這台油電車的節能表現比HONDA Civic汽油車還要好47%。這樣一台車在印度新德里的售價為215萬盧比。
印度市場由於經濟快速成長，近幾年來成為車廠們爭相搶攻的銷售要點，但是當地消費者偏愛便宜的小型車確也是不爭的事實。環保議題雖然在全球各地受到重視，替代燃料車款如油電車、柴油車、酒精燃料車，在歐美國家也成為對抗暖化問題的工具。
印度在經濟蓬勃發展的同時，一方面鼓勵民眾多多消費，一方面卻又不得不擔心短時間內汽車數量成長過於迅速，會為社會和環境造成什麼樣的負面影響。油電車目前的價格仍然偏高，印度消費者的接受度如何有待觀察，花相同的錢，民眾會選擇豪華高級車款？還是環保節能車？端看當地政府提倡環保理念和人民的吸收度如何。
HONDA估計2008年印度的油電車銷售量應該能達到幾百輛。油電動力複合式汽車使用汽油引擎搭配電動馬達，在高速行駛時仰賴汽油引擎，但當汽車靜止不動或遇紅燈停下實，就會切換至電動馬達。
