隨著2008年巴黎車展已經展開，HONDA也順勢進行小改款2009年式Civic掀背首演。

隨著2008年巴黎車展已經展開，HONDA也順勢進行小改款2009年式Civic Type-S三門掀背/五門掀背首演，整體車身造型設計更像Civic Type R，並且導入經過調校的1.4升i-VTEC引擎與自動變速系統。
小改款2009年式Civic掀背車型，透過裝配重新設計的前後保險桿與側裙，搭配源自Civic Type-R的髮絲紋金屬飾板、Alcantara跑車座椅，座椅材質也有所更新。歐洲HONDA宣稱，此次導入Civic掀背車型的1.4升i-VTEC引擎，也將會成為Civic全車系的標準入門動力選擇，而其最大馬力由原先83hp提升至100hp/6000rpm，最大峰值扭力則為12.9kgm/4800rpm。
值得一提的是，HONDA全新開發的i-SHIFT六速自動變速系統，將會導入搭載1.8升i-VTEC引擎的Civic五門掀背車型當中，此類先進的變速箱將有助於減少變速箱在檔位切換時，所產生的頓挫，並且提供油耗與性能表現兼具的引擎動能表現。
