可說是HONDA賽車精神實踐的FR敞篷跑車－S2000，隨著HONDA已正式宣布退出F1賽事與相關活動，近日也由官方確認將於2009年六月停產的消息！從1999年問世至今，S2000以其所搭載的高性能四缸自然進氣引擎、車身前後50：50完美配重、FR前置引擎後輪驅動等配置，提供高度駕駛樂趣與享受的至高表現。
除了受人囑目的性能表現之外，S2000亦採用HONDA G-CON安全車體搭配先進引擎排廢系統，成就安全與環保兼具的科技成就。S2000為強化其性能表現，在推出歷代小改款車型之際，亦陸續導入VGS可變齒比轉向系統（Variable Gear ratio Steering）、改變輪圈尺碼、增加引擎排氣量等作為，讓S2000始終維持迷人HONDA敞篷跑車形象。
根據統計，S2000光在日本便已累計銷售超過2.0萬輛，全球更累積銷售超過11萬輛，就在1999年至今，短短的九年期間。
HONDA S2000大事記：
1998年九月－S2000原型車在HONDA五十週年紀念大會亮相
1999年四月－S2000問世，搭載2.0升DOHC VTEC引擎（最大馬力250hp/8300rpm，峰值扭力22.2kgm/7500rpm），創下當年市售車的2.0升自然進氣四缸引擎輸出紀錄。
2000年七月－S2000 Type-V問世，搭載全球首創VGS可變齒比轉向系統。
2001年九月－S2000自選色彩計畫推出，消費者可選擇13種車色、5種內裝配色與兩種敞篷配色。
2002年十月－S2000 Gioire問世，消費者可選擇兩種車色、搭配鍍鉻後視鏡與金色輪圈
2003年十月－S2000小改款問世，搭載17吋鋁合金輪圈、內裝與車身設計更具動感時尚。
2004年四月－S2000製造地由HONDA栃木廠轉移至鈴鹿廠。
2005年11月－S2000小改款二度問世，搭載擴缸至2.2升DOHC VTEC引擎、DBW線傳技術（Drive By Wire），以及內裝與車身設計的進化。
2007年十月－S2000小改款三度問世，標配VSA車輛穩定輔助系統（Vehicle Stability Assist）、衛星廣播系統。另有S2000 Type-S問世，裝配17吋五芒星輪圈、皮革跑車座椅、頭枕揚聲器，與前保桿下擾流/車底導流空力套件/大型擾流尾翼。
