9年全球銷售11萬輛，HONDA S2000有一套！

早在1995年以SSM概念車型態出現，並在HONDA創廠50週年推出先行量產車的S2000，可是承襲名車S500/S600/S800的優良血統、同時導入更多新技術的雙座敞篷FR跑車，1999年正式發表以來到2008年這八年裡，總計在全球銷售11萬輛，可惜在2009年1月HONDA宣布S2000將走入歷史，且不再有後繼者出現。
HONDA之所以不再推出S2000後繼車，最主要是受到2008年金融海嘯衝擊及獲利虧損影響，甚至原本被視為繼承者、於廣州車展發表的概念跑車「理念」，也確定將整個計畫計畫中止。
從1999年4月到2008年12月底為止HONDA在全世界總計銷售11萬輛S2000，其中2萬輛為日本市場，且具原廠統計2008年三月底時當地尚有17736輛S2000仍在道路上奔馳，可見得S2000在日本消費者心目中依然是值得收藏的跑車。而2008年縱使歷經景氣低迷，但S2000在日本銷售卻比2007年成長23.2﹪，達1228輛，因此當HONDA決定停產S2000時，最後一批的車主都覺得賺到了。
雖然HONDA決定要停產S2000對車迷來說實屬可惜，但至少車壇又出現一款值得收藏的經典名車，因為S2000確實有其他車款所沒有的特異功能。
