預計在今年四月登陸美國的HONDA Insight油電車，現在已在日本造成轟動。據路透社的報導指出，自Insight在二月六日於日本推出後，訂單數量足足成長了三倍之多。「消費者的反應相當熱烈，」HONDA執行長Hiroshi Kobayashi在東京接受媒體訪問時表示。
由於需求量超乎預期的數量，車廠已計畫要增加Insight的產量，不過Kobayashi拒絕透露詳細的數字。據悉，Insight吸引到的車主並不只局限於一般客車，從迷你車的車主到迷你廂型車的車主，皆在Insight的30天等候名單上。對於HONDA來說，民眾對Insight的反應，不失為黑暗中的一絲曙光。
HONDA一月份在日本的新車銷售量滑落20%。分析師認為，Insight之所以會受到日本消費者的喜愛，主要是因為與TOYOTA Prius相比，HONDA油電車的價格足足少了20%，目前在日本定價約20000美元。此外，HONDA也特別強調Insight傑出的油耗表現，平均每加侖可行駛61英里。
據美國的試駕結果顯示，TOYOTA Prius的油耗表現，在市區和公路為46mpg，至於安排在今年春季推出的第三代Prius，油耗表現為50 mpg。
