儘管先前的NSX開發工作已接近尾聲，但仍在2008年底由總裁福井威夫發表終止消息。

這是一個絕對讓HONDA車迷興奮不已的好消息！先前在2008年底因金額風暴危機，HONDA決定緊縮支出，不僅退出F1，就連已進入開發最後測試階段的全新NSX都被迫腰斬。不過隨著大環境好轉，HONDA除了致力於現今主流的節能車款開發之外，也決定重啟NSX開發計畫！

據傳重新開發的NSX將採用Accord底盤平台進行修改，以降低開發成本。

根據國外媒體報導，為了降低開發及製造成本，重新啟動的NSX開發計畫捨棄先前開發的專用底盤，而將以Accord底盤平台為基礎再進行修改，驅動方式則採用來自Legend的SH-AWD四驅系統，但採用偏向後驅的調校設定以提高操控靈活度，動力單元也不再是車迷期待的V10引擎，而是以3.5L V6引擎搭配電動馬達、最大總合輸出馬力400hp的Hybrid油電複合動力單元。
看到上述的規格，或許死忠的HONDA熱血車迷會認為此車並不能傳承真正的NSX精神，不過從另一角度來看，NSX此類旗艦超跑，代表的是車廠最精華、最先進的技術實力展現，搭載Hybrid系統的全新NSX不正是宣告HONDA於節能科技上的努力與成果？無論如何，新一代NSX最快也得等到2014年才會現身，期間若也有任何最新消息，AutoNet都將在第一時間為您報導。
