新一代Legend將消失僅以高級品牌ACURA RL在少數國家銷售
|
早在2010年7月曾傳出旗艦Legend不再開發販售的消息後，2011年HONFA社長伊東孝紳在股東會上做出解釋，Legend並非停產，而是將重心擺在美國市場，也就是說未來Legend不再掛上HONDA廠徽，而是以ACURA RL繼續販售；同時為了降低成本提升競爭力，目前的SH-AWD將被新系統取代，並增加1985年前輪驅動的選擇。

打從1985年問世以來，Legend便因FF設定而成為市場上罕見的旗艦房車，直到現行第四代才導入能進行前後及左右力道分配的SH-AWD系統，雖然在市場上叫好卻不叫座，只剩下掛著高級品牌ACURA RL仍受到消費者青睞，但畢竟同級對手眾多，RL的銷售成績似乎令HONDA原廠陷入兩難，因此才傳出停止開發後繼車的消息。不過就AutoNet汽車日報所掌握的訊息，HONDA似乎已著手開發第五代Legend，只是Legend恐怕會就此消失，而是專心掛上ACURA廠徽以RL車名來銷售，放眼ACURA販售的國家僅有美國、加拿大、墨西哥與中國，這下剩此四國民眾能買到RL。
另外，預計2012年以後問世的第五代Legend將回歸原本FF設定，結構複雜、成本較高的SH-AWD將被捨棄，取而代之可能是電動馬達驅動的e-4WD，也就是如TOYOTA Estima Hybrid相同的系統，動力則為3.7L V6汽油引擎，推估將擁有340-350hp馬力。至於科技配備和安全行頭部分，前後左右4顆CCD鏡頭（停車導引）、盲點偵測警示、14個揚聲器、19吋鋁合金輪圈、電子式駐車煞車、車道偏移警示等都將納入清單中，當然這些高科技早已出現在其他車廠產品上，2008年甫進行小改款的HONDA Legend/ACURA RL自然尚未配置。
而據說下一代Legend，不，應該說是ACURA RL的年產量約2萬輛，包含美國18,000輛、加拿大100輛、中國80輛、墨西哥60輛，如果和同級高級房車相比似乎少了很多。
