1889年發表、1990年正式上市的NSX在2005年寫下句點後，也結束了日本超跑最具傳奇性的一頁。

於1989年於芝加哥車展中正式對外發表的HONDA NSX，堪稱是日本車廠投身超跑級距的重要里程碑，畢竟當時的日系車廠最主要的擅長領域在於打造經濟取向的車款，因此NSX的現身在當時更背譽為是來自東瀛的法拉利。

HSC概念車最後仍然胎死腹中。

只可惜NSX的鼎盛時期大約是在1990年代，但也由於HONDA車廠始終沒有推出其後繼車型，也因此它的產品生命週期甚至被一再地延長、甚至進入了21世紀以後，直到2005年才被宣告停產，結束了長達15年的生涯、而東瀛第一超跑的神話也在此時寫下句點，儘管現階段LEXUS已經推出性能更為強悍的LFA，但是多數車迷還是認為，NSX崇高無上的地位仍然不是LFA所能取代。

儘管2003年HONDA曾經推出過HSC概念車，並且預料在2010年推出第二代的NSX，但由於受到經濟危機的影響導致NSX的重生計畫最後還是落的胎死腹中的下場。不過，足以令車迷們感到高興的是，HONDA總裁伊東孝紳（Takanobu Ito）在本屆的法蘭克福車展上已經明確表示：新世代的NSX已經進入研發的階段，將具備有全鋁合金的車身並且會在2015年推出上市，同時不僅在動力性能上面會全面的提升，同時也具備有更為豐富的駕駛樂趣與操控能力。

目前對於新世代的NSX的性能規格當然還沒有確切的依據，但是外傳將會匹配4.5L的V10引擎，最大馬力至少在550hp的水準以上，而且隨著節能減碳的主流趨勢，甚至為來還會有一款使用3.5L V6引擎的油電混合動力版本。不論如何，現在談這些動力性能等資訊其實都還太早，但可以確信的是，NSX的確定復出一定是最值得車迷們感到興奮的一件事！
