汽車廠也搞智慧型家庭電能管理系統？沒錯！這也將成為未來趨勢，因為電動車輛要普及，必須先有完善的充電系統，目前日本都會區停車場普遍都有設置充電站，但是未來最需要架構智慧型電能系統的地方，除了公司行號與路邊停車格之外，自家住宅才是關鍵。

除了車廠之外，其他廠商對智慧型住宅電能系統也有高度興趣，如日本IHI、美國WiTricity，主力放在無線充電系統，對於電能系統規劃方面，TOYOTA與HONDA為家庭智能電力系統的翹楚，此外，TOSHIBA更看好北美地區廣大的市場，積極在美國佈局。智慧型電能系統究竟有何魅力？且看以下分析。
智慧型家庭電能系統，研發目的計有：
1. 擷取太陽能：為了降低對火力、核能電廠的依賴，因此在居家的屋頂裝設太陽能發電板，此電力除了提供電動車充電之外，還可以提供空調系統、熱水器、微波爐、電磁爐、機器人吸塵器等家電產品使用。
2. 擷取夜間電能：水力發電在夜間低用電負荷時段，可以將發電蓄水池的水「回抽」到水庫，用以儲存電能，但是火力與核能發電，在夜間既不能停機，也不能儲存電力，因此夜間的電費通常都比較便宜，此時適合用來替電動車充電，智能電力系統具備充電時間設定功能，並能提醒車主在車輛停妥後，記得將充電插頭插上。
3. 電能儲存：智能電力系統具備充電電池模組，白天儲存太陽能發電，夜間儲存電廠配電，可依照用戶需求擴充電池容量。
4. 電池再利用：家庭用電力儲存系統，可使用Hybrid或電動車淘汰下來的電池，增進電池利用效率。
5. 電力分配：當某家電力有過剩的情況，可以「賣」給電力公司，或是賣給其他住戶，達到電力分配功效，避免無謂的電能浪費。
