HONDA科技巡禮（5）：母雞帶小雞MC-β全球首試，安全環保又聽話！

一直以來自動駕駛可是車廠的最大夢想，也是科幻作品中最為人羨慕的玩意，不過在日本HONDA的努力下，自動駕駛已經不再是夢想，甚至手機或平板電腦還能變成遙控器，只要按下個按鍵便會自動停好車。
早在1800年代就有美國科幻小說家提出機器人取代馬匹來拉車的構想，只是這些機器人是以蒸氣為動力，經過200年的進化，HONDA將機器人的腦袋縮小為一塊小晶片，動力為改以吃電的馬達，雙腿則變成四個橡膠輪胎，機器人所拉的車廂變成縱置雙座，而且藉由紅外線和攝影機等偵測，達到自動停車/出車、跟車等駕駛模式，這就是最新研發的新世代都會電動車MC-β。
在HONDA的Earth Dreams科技框架下，智慧電動車也是其中的一環、外觀未來感十足、宛如小型高爾夫球車的MC-β，具有2495×1280×1545mm的尺碼，最小迴轉半徑只有3.3m，車艙採用縱置雙座「offset seat」的偏位設計，提供後作乘員更好的視野；管狀車架來自HONDA機車技術，搭配塑料鈑件的採用，使MC-β擁有優異的車身強度，400kg車重堪稱輕量級。基於是以都會短程通勤移動為前提所打造，動力搭載定速8.1hp、瞬間最大15.0hp的馬達，極速為70km/h以上，續航力約80km，以100V充電可在7小時完成，如是200V則3小時內就可充飽。實際試駕發現MC-β很好開，非常適合如東京、台北這種地小人稠路窄的交通狀況，加速性比起一般電動車更快，甚至高速時還會發出如噴射機細柔高亢的聲浪，原以為高頂設計在過彎時會不穩，但底盤懸吊設定的功力果真了得，約50km/h可完成小彎，進入狹小道路因寬度僅不到1.3m，輕輕鬆鬆就過關。但中置座椅的設計有些不習慣，只要稍花點時間就能適應。
不過這些規格並非MC-β的強項，因為MC-β還有一個孿生兄弟車，但造型卻更有味道的「Remote Drive」，除了動力、車艙都相同，最為人注意的就在可以自動停車、出車和跟車。這套系統藉由攝影機與紅外線偵測，是為了解決都會停車問題所提出的方案，利用計有的電腦、通訊、藍牙、無線等技術，以平板電腦當作遙控器，只需按下功能鍵車輛便會自行停入狹小停車空間，也可從停車格出車；此外，位於車頭的攝影機會針對前車進行偵測，在鎖定好距離後只要前車行進便會跟著前進，無論直線或轉彎都跟得好好地，就如母雞帶小雞一樣。
無論是MC-β還是「Remote Drive」，都顯示出HONDA在21世紀都擁有前瞻的眼光，當然在遵循本田宗一郎精神的大原則下，完全將「夢」與「人」緊密結合，尤其是零污染、自動駕駛的層面，更MC-β和「Remote Drive」上，以這兩款車的成熟度來看，只要用車的大環境改變，勢必能在最短時間內上線，並創造人類行動的新紀元。
