隨著歐、美市場因為金融海嘯導致的衰退潮，致使車市規模大幅縮減，也使得許多車廠意識到另闢新局的重要，逐漸將部分重心轉往經濟正在起步、開發中的新興市場先行卡位，其中金磚四國之一的印度市場便是角力的新戰場，而深耕印度多年的HONDA，面對印度最具指標性的德里國際車展自然是大意不得，推出全新的Vision XS-1概念車出來應戰。

根據HONDA表示，Vision XS-1概念車可以說是對於未來車輛設計願景的實驗性車款，目的可以說是HONDA為了實驗一只以來在製車上所堅持的M/M精神（Man maximum、Machine minimum），也就是人類乘坐空間極大化、汽車機械空間極小化的造車理念，所到之處可是充滿了HONDA永不妥協的挑戰精神。

為了闡述M/M精神的精隨所在，讓身形看似短小緊湊的Vision XS-1概念車能夠擁有超乎想像的大空間，近年來結合房車與休旅車的Crossover都會跨界風潮也就成為重點的設計取向，受益於車高的向上拉高以及HONDA拿手的底盤平整化、魔術可調式座椅的大力相助，以及嶄新的無B柱的結構設計，使得大面積的電動滑門擁有寬廣的出入口，讓不起眼的小車，竟然可以具備難以想像的三排七人座的寬敞乘坐空間。

儘管車內空間〝麻雀雖小〞，但絕對是〝五臟俱全〞，車室質感也不流於通俗，第一排座椅還配置包覆性佳的運動型座椅，而座椅皮套則是採黑、米白雙色設計，中控台則是採簡約風格，除了可觸控式的螢幕外，幾乎沒有多餘的按鍵，與三環儀表板相呼應，而真皮包覆的三輻式方向盤也以簡單的白色縫線處理，不過在多功能按鍵外框還採用褐色金屬材質點綴，為整體車室增添不少質感。
