    車太小?S660不會來到美國市場,但HONDA仍會繼續擴展運動車型

2015年4月發表的HONDA S660,以中置引擎、雙座迷你小跑車的姿態,在日本K-Car輕型汽車級距締造一股銷售風潮。不止HONDA在5月底時宣佈增產20%,到了8月中時原廠更宣佈2015年的總產額8600輛已經完售,而其中下訂的車主更有80%超過40歲,可見拉風雙座小跑車並非只是年輕人的專利。

S660在日本市場獲得強力迴響後,8月底也同時傳出HONDA北美執行副總裁John Mendel,將與內部討論導入S660到美國市場販售的可行性。不過日前John Mendel則表示,他不會將S660列為北美地區未來銷售陣容的目標。因為他認為S660車身尺碼真的太小了,對美國汽車市場的需求與實用性皆不符合。

從規格數據來看,S660的車身尺碼為3395×1475×1180mm、軸距2285mm,至於現行火熱的雙座小跑車MAZDA Roadster(美國市場稱MX-5 Miata),則為3915×1730×1235mm、軸距2315mm。即便HONDA提到S660以駕駛者為導向的座艙設計下,要容納身高150-180cm的成人並沒有問題,但就以美國民眾普遍的身形來說,除了高度以外座椅寬度也極為重要,但在這點S660就無法克服。

正因為HONDA運動、性能跑車的重新崛起,使過往美國市場曾販售過的CRX Si、NSX、Integra Type-R、S2000等車款,各車迷都引頸期盼可以重返當時榮耀時光,現在除了已經出現的新世代NAX、Civic Type R外,HONDA CEO Takahiro Hachigo早些日子也承諾會提供更多運動車款到美國市場,不過新車型仍在保密階段,所以先前才引發各種面向的揣測(如S1000、S2000繼任車款等)。
