    2015 HONDA先進科技之旅(7):讓乘員與行人生命獲保障,POLAR III成就車輛安全的無聲

想要測試車體結構是否能完全保護乘員,最好的方法就是撞擊一下,雖說車體看似完整,但裡頭乘員能否毫髮無傷,那就得仰賴所謂的Dummy了,當然在技術越來越進步下,Dummy除了尺寸有各種區別,更裝上許多的感測裝置,甚至連材質密度都接近人體肌肉組織,而HONDA在Dummy的開發也頗有成就,像現在所使用第三代的POLAR III,讓HONDA對乘員和行人的安全生命更有保障。

過去車廠在進行撞擊測試時,多為真人或者屍體擔任實際測試,其結果自然是「死傷慘重」,隨著技術越來越進步,Dummy就成為最佳犧牲者;而HONDA自行開發的Dummy-POLAR系列,2008年已發展到第三代,也就是POLAR III,這是HONDA針對數量不少的SUV與Minivan所開發的仕樣,當然結構上也變得更精細,同時增添不少新功能,以讓所獲得的測試結果更忠於實際行人。

當所有車廠都著重在車室乘員安全時,HONDA就已經替行人安全作準備,1998年為了降低車輛撞擊行人時的安全性,首度開發出對應測試的Dummy-POLAR I,2000年則進化為更接近人體的POLAR II,於頭部、頸部等共計八處增加偵測器,但POLAR II是以一般房車為基準,時隔八年後HONDA再度開發第三代POLAR III,以符合現在用車狀況以及相當廣泛的SUV與Minivan。

基於SUV和Minivan的佔有率越來越高, POLAR III,其上半身基礎與POLAR II完全相同,改良重點在於腰部、骨盤、大小腿等人體結構進行提升,且根據一般車禍分析,行人的膝蓋韌帶部分多受嚴重傷害,因此HONDA也增加膝蓋韌帶的感應,以讓POLAR III更接近實際人體,並藉由撞擊測試中獲得更精確的數據,希望設計出更安全且對行人更有保障的車體結構與配備。

由HONDA自行開發的POLAR III可是機密所在,當然不會輕易公開秘方,所幸有這群無聲又無名的勇者們,任勞任怨地替我們在安全上把關,才能讓HONDA在蒐集最詳盡的資料後運用於車體和配備設計上,並提供給消費者最安全的行車保障。
