既然有了燃料電池車，那麼最大問題就是要去哪裡補充能源，而過程中是否要耗費非常多時間，再者到底可供應多少車輛，以及要佔用多少土地面積，相信這些對民眾來說肯定是心中最大疑問，不過HONDA的SHS倒是解決這些問題。
由HONDA所獨自開發的SHS（Smart Hydrogen System）智慧加氫站，是為了讓燃料電池車普及的一大解決方案，隨著最新世代燃料電池車Clarity於2015年東京車展發表，全球第一個採用高壓電解水系統的小型化加氫站SHS也跟著問世。基本上藉由太陽能、風力、水力和生質燃料發電所製成氫，經過高壓後儲存在燃料罐裡頭。
總體積7.8平方公尺大小的SHS，可儲存18L燃料罐共8個，每個燃料罐約18kg，且建置時間僅需一天即可完成，根據了解HONDA的智慧氫燃料站一天可生產1.5kg的氫燃料，也就是提供燃料電池車約150km的續航力，以儲存槽可儲存約18kg來計算，差不多是約2000km的距離，這應該可以滿足車輛上的需求。同時在HONDA的規劃下，未來SHS將以日本東京、大阪、京都等四大都會區為中心，並逐步擴展到都會圈以外的住宅區，當然先決條件是燃料電池車必須要能普及。
目前SHS的Prototype日本埼玉縣埼玉市和福岡縣北九州市兩處設置，是以量產為前提進行測試，一但測試沒有任何問題，且燃料電池車的數量增加，相信應該在不少地方就會看SHS。當然最終目標還是希望能趕在2020年東京奧運前完成，以符合日本對新能源政策的要望。
