    小知識:HONDA Civic Type R中置三出尾管的秘密

目前佔據紐柏林最速前驅車頭銜的HONDA Civic Type R,可說是該品牌的當紅炸子雞,除了擁有突破300hp的強大馬力,更在HONDA精心調教之下,創造驚人的實力,也是許多性能迷爭相擁有的主因之一。不過許多車迷可能已經發現,Civic Type R的排氣管設計相當特殊,不僅採用罕見的中置三出設計,而且中央的管徑明顯比兩側的小,但其實這在設計上是有學問的。

為何代號FK8的第五代Civic Type R的排氣管設計這般特殊,北美第十代Civic車系的產品規畫總監Rob Keough表示,雖然會買這類性能鋼砲的消費者都追求熱血的排氣聲讓,但對於長途駕駛來說那真是一種折磨,而HONDA Civic Type R的排氣管設計可以克服這一點,讓它的排氣聲浪更加人性化。

Rob Keough提到,Civic Type R左右兩邊口徑較大的排氣尾管能夠發出較大、高亢的聲浪,而中間口徑較小的排氣管的聲音較為溫和、斯文,這讓它能夠同時兼顧熱血與乘坐品質。竟然這樣為何不一開始就使用可啟閉的閥門設計,只要一顆開關就能調整聲浪呢?Rob Keough解釋,這類可變動閥門的排氣系統結構相當複雜,也會影響到車輛的總製造成本。

但HONDA如此貼心的設計真的受到消費者的認同嗎?其實也未必,日前國外的汽車媒體在試駕時就曾抱怨,Civic Type R在高速公路上行駛時的聲浪,就像是一輛過時的TOYOTA Camry,一點也不像是熱血的性能鋼砲該有的表現。
