高田氣囊缺陷影響擴大，HONDA因此同意支付25億進行和解

搭載高田（Takata）安全氣囊的車款在今年初就被大規模召回過，牽涉到的數量除了多達1億顆安全氣囊之外，也與19家車廠有關，其中，就包括HONDA，這些有缺陷的氣囊造成事故頻傳，也引起美國各州政府調查有使用高田安全氣囊的車廠，而且這樣的問題甚至延續了長達20幾年；HONDA便於本週二公布，將同意支付8,500萬美金（約台幣25億），以與美國各州進行和解。
根據美國國家公路交通安全管理局（National Highway Traffic Safety Administration）統計指出，目前為止HONDA已召回了超過4,000萬輛、裝有6,000多萬顆高田安全氣囊、於美國銷售的車輛，主要原因便是因為氣囊在啟動時可能會爆炸，而且這樣的故障情況甚至已導致全球範圍至少25人死亡、近300人受傷；多人傷亡的情況，也讓許多州的檢察總長早在2015年十二月以來就陸續開始調查HONDA車款與高田安全氣囊的使用情況。
車廠在今年一月，便宣布將召回270萬輛、較舊款的美規車輛，原因便是這些車款可能搭載了有缺陷的高田氣囊，涉及的車款從1996年式至2003年的HONDA與ACURA都有；而車廠也表示，在最新的召回行動當中，就發現一次氣囊在事故現場破裂，2012年在德州撞車事故導致了人員受傷，另外還有兩起破裂事故是發生在日本的垃圾場；另外，從2008年以來，車廠就召回了近1,300萬輛裝有高田氣囊的美國車款，並更換了超過1,600萬顆安全氣囊。
同時，在週二車廠宣布的和解協議當中，HONDA美國分部也已同意針對前座安全氣囊以升級相關的產品安全程序，試圖降低氣囊破裂的風險；日系車廠方面也指出，旗下分公司都已同意這些和解協議，但並不承認有任何不當行為，至少對車廠還說，已避免了進一步訴訟必須擔負的費用，車廠也提到，針對此事，已與美國46個州、華盛頓特區、以及三個美國領土等州政府達成了民事和解。
