面對電動車市場的生死存亡之戰，NISSAN和HONDA計畫共同開發車用軟體和充電技術

根據日經新聞的報導指稱，NISSAN和HONDA兩車廠正在考慮使用標準化的汽車軟體，並合作開發電動車充電技術，透過這些措施來降低電動車生產製造的成本。
NISSAN和HONDA日產和本田曾在3月間公開表示，他們正在考慮在生產電動車零部件方面建立戰略合作夥伴關係，因為他們尋求在全球電池電動車市場獲得更大的立足點，預計未來幾年電池電動車市場將會大幅成長。而根據日經新聞最新的報導，這兩家車廠，分別是日本第三和第二大汽車製造商。他們正在尋求共同開發控制汽車的操作系統，以降低成本，但日經新聞沒有說明消息源從何而來。
日經新聞指稱，NISSAN和HONDA還可以合作促進充電基礎設施，以提高其在電動車方面的市場競爭力，據悉他們正在考慮在六大領域進行合作，作為其潛在合作夥伴關係的一部分。NISSAN執行長內田誠（Makoto Uchida）在3月間曾表示他們願意在日本和海外的任何地區合作。而NISSAN和HONDA兩家公司則是拒絕對日經新聞的報導發表評論，但兩家汽車製造商的代表都表示，兩家公司正在探索各種合作的可能。
NISSAN在2010年以Leaf率先推出大眾化電動車，而HONDA則在競爭日益激烈的全球電動車市場中，面臨著越來越大的威脅，包括來自特斯拉以及中國與韓國汽車製造商等公司的威脅。兩家日本汽車製造商在中國的主要市場都受到了沉重打擊，因為消費者轉向比亞迪等中國品牌生產的低價、軟體負載的電動車。
今年前五個月，NISSAN在全球銷售了5萬多輛電動汽車，占其全球總銷量140萬輛的3.5%。而HONDA在 2024 年前三個月只=售出 3,190 輛電動車，占同期全球近 100 萬輛汽車零售銷量的 0.3%。
