想要購買油電版大型車款的朋友，請不要指望日本車廠HONDA。倒不是HONDA無意推出油電車，而是他們無意推出油電版的大型車款。HONDA產品研發部門負責人Masaaki Kato表示，車廠計劃將油電技術安裝在小型車款上，以求達到最大的環保節能效益。
這樣的決策其實與HONDA的競爭對手有所出入，因為他們大部份都選擇推出豪華房車和運動休旅車油電版。TOYOTA計劃在2010年推出新一代Prius油電車，據消息指出新車的外型將會加大，車廠同時也安排在明年一月的底特律車展上，推出全新的LEXUS油電車。
NISSAN第一輛油電版汽車將獻給INFINITI，美國車廠FORD和GM也將生產油電車款的重心放在運動休旅車和卡車。反觀HONDA，他們目前計劃推出的油電車款中，車型最大的就屬Civic，未來也打算朝「小巧」的方向繼續發展。HONDA明年將推出比Civic還小的油電車，緊接著要推出更小的油電跑車CR-Z，至於在2012年左右，HONDA Fit油電版也可望問世。
至於HONDA有計劃推出Accord油電版嗎。Kato表示在短時間內尚沒有這個打算。HONDA之前推出的Accord油電車，搭載V6引擎，但市場反應冷淡，已於2007年底撤離。
