自2011年2月第九代Civic登場、2013年確認開發Type R性能車型，歷經5年等待以及多次概念車預告，Civic Type R終於在2015年日內瓦車展量產現身，在嶄新的2.0L VTEC Turbo渦輪引擎技術，將最大馬力提升到310hp下，不僅是目前現行量產前驅車性能表現之最，更藉由先進的轉向技術輔助，打破大馬力前驅車難以駕馭的局面。

隨著2015年7月初HONDA英國斯溫頓（Swindon）廠，宣布開始量產Civic Type R後，車迷無止境的期待心情也就稍稍喘息。不過由於英國生產的Civic Type R新車皆為右駕版，除了當地已排定在今年稍晚開賣外，日本則是在2015年第三季導入。其它地區目前不只導入時間尚未明朗，就連美國也都要等到2017年才能拿到車。

有趣的是，HONDA不僅選定英國Swindon廠為生產重鎮，引擎組裝更是交由美國俄亥俄州Anna Engine Plant來執行。1985年開廠的Anna Engine Plant，主要負責HONDA、ACURA旗下四、六缸引擎組裝，並在2014年升級產線導入HONDA新世代VTEC Turbo渦輪引擎生產技術。因此Civic Type R動力心臟毫無疑問就由Anna Engine Plant來全權負責。

日前HONDA也特地在網路上釋出一段Civic Type R引擎組裝歷程，並表示Anna Engine Plant將加速組裝2.0L VTEC Turbo渦輪引擎，並將引擎本體運到英國Swindon廠，支援Civic Type R的組裝速度。而此具2.0L VTEC Turbo渦輪引擎，也是HONDA有史以來生產馬力最強的量產引擎，這讓Civic Type R的性能氣勢不言而喻。
