近來於全球汽車市場表現極為優異的日本第二大汽車公司本田汽車〈HONDA〉，將計劃與中國之合作夥伴廣州汽車集團與東風汽車合資於廣州市之出口區興建汽車製造廠，預估2004年起開始生產暢銷小車─Fit，初步產能設定為每年5萬輛，主要將供應中國以外市場。HONDA目前尚未透露新廠房所需金額，與合作夥伴間的股權分配也尚未公佈。
而其計劃生產之Fit，甫於日本以11萬6,970輛的銷售量奪下該國上半年單一車款銷售冠軍，為HONDA全球化策略主力車款之一，其於歐洲化名Jass同樣頗受好評，未來於台灣已正式運作的台灣本田，亦有可能引進或於國內生產該車款，搶佔國內小型車市場。
