    HONDA獨門武器VTEC

在21世紀身為HONDA車款,如果沒有配置VTEC引擎,那肯定無法賦予血統證明書,因為VTEC等同於HONDA已經是不變的鐵律,然而到底什麼是VTEC呢?這東西有什麼作用?

所謂VTEC,就是Variable Valve Timing/Lift Electronic Control System的縮寫,寫了一長串英文翻譯成中文就是:可變氣門正時與揚程電子控制機構,由字面上就可非常明顯的知道,VTEC就是藉由改變點火正時(進、排氣重疊時間);氣門揚程(氣門開啟深度、進氣量不同)來適應車輛的行駛需要。

首先不論單凸輪軸還是雙凸輪軸,eVTEC是與VTEC算是同時被開發出來的產品。以每缸4氣門為例(兩進、兩排),eVTEC是在低轉速時,採用只有一個進氣門與兩個排氣門的運轉方式,以保持較佳的扭力及油耗。當需要高馬力與速度時(高轉速),eVTEC就會同時開啟2個進氣門,提供較大的進氣量,同時氣門重疊時間也會增加,以利引擎高轉速時的大量進氣及快速排氣。

因此HONDA旗下只要配置VTEC引擎者,其中低轉速區域時一進氣門全開,另一進氣門微微開啟(使用中、小兩種角度的凸輪),並產生進氣渦流,增加燃燒效率並提高扭力,高轉速時則以高角度凸輪同時開啟兩個進氣門(開啟角度一樣),增加進氣效率,有效提升馬力。

VTEC可以算是HONDA的獨門招牌,藉由固定的轉速開啟油壓推桿動作,同時可變換進氣氣門的正時與揚程,不過它的缺點就是在於固定轉速而非線性多變,於是最新的iVTEC,就是會透過錐形可變開啟時機機構,讓任何轉速區域皆能擁有VTEC的功能,且還分為三階段作動,不但能節省油耗、降低污染,更能有效提升功率輸出。
