    絕地大反攻?SWIFT Engineering承接FORMULA Nippon賽車設計工作?!

相信大家都知道,目前世界第一大車廠不是美國的GM,而是日本的TOYOTA!而在全球最大單一汽車市場的北美市場,稱霸的廠家也不是美國的三大集團(GM、CHRYSLER、FORD),答案還是日本的TOYOTA。的確,不管是TOYOTA、NISSAN,亦或是HONDA等日系車廠,在北美的消息成績總是特別好,而美系車廠似乎也束手無策,而今美國人倒是有機會反攻回日本,不過不是正常的車款銷售,而是FORMULA Nippon的賽車設計!

FORMULA Nippon(以後直寫日本方程式)是個屬於F3000等級的日本在地單座方程式賽車競賽,雖說日本方程式賽車是日本的在地賽事,但仍有不少外國車手會參賽,例如TOYOTA F1車隊的Ralf Schumacher曾是1996年的日本方程式冠軍車手,現為McLAREN F1車隊的測試車手Pedro de la Rosa則是1997年度的冠軍車手,所以日本方程式賽車可以被視為可進階更高等級賽事的跳板。

而現今的日本方程式賽車規格均採HONDA和TOYOTA在IRL賽事所用的3000c.c.V8引擎,馬力輸出可至550hp/10300rpm,賽車底盤車架則是採用英國著名的賽車底盤製造商LOLA,專為日本方程式賽車所打造的FN06底盤。但根據消息指出,來自於美國的賽車底盤與車輛設計大廠SWIFT Engineering接下了日本方程式賽車主辦單位的合約,自2009年起將取代LOLA成為日本方程式賽車的制式車架底盤供應商,而SWIFT Engineering的車架底盤設計哲學,亦會朝著減緩直線車速,並增進彎道超車的機率來設計,這點倒是與FIA近年來一直提倡的F1賽車設計哲學有異曲同工之妙。但若再加上日本方程式的賽車引擎其實是IRL賽事所使用的引擎規格,其實若說日本方程式賽車被美國絕地大反攻,亦不為過。

不過若要看到美國車廠的引擎完全打入日本方程式賽車,我想還是很難吧!
