HONDA上周才宣布過，因為新冠的後續影響、港口貨運狀況壅塞、以及美國等地的冬季風暴等等原因，被迫在3月22日開始的本周暫停北美大部分工廠的生產，車廠又在周二表示，因為供應鏈方面的問題必須再將某些北美工廠的停產時間延長到3月29日這一周。
車廠表示，晶片短缺正嚴重打擊到全球各地的汽車生產；像是TOYOTA便於上周指出，已決定削減位於美國肯塔基州、西維弗吉尼亞州以及墨西哥州總共四間工廠的產量，主要原因便是因為零組件供應短缺以及近期的惡劣天候影響到了車廠的產量。
而FCA與PSA合併之後的STELLANTIS也於上周六指出，晶片供應問題已經打擊到車廠利潤主力的皮卡車型製造，甚至FORD也表示過將進一步針對美國工廠進行減產的措施。
全球第四大車廠STELLANTIS表示，將在密西根州沃倫（Warren）、墨西哥薩爾蒂約（Saltill）等組裝廠維持Ram 1500皮卡車的絕大部分組裝，當晶片供應恢復時，車輛便能將缺少的晶片部分加入、完成最終組裝並運至經銷商處開始銷售。
全球各家車廠都遭受晶片短缺，除了去年因為新冠疫情，被迫關閉工廠好幾個月的時間之外，在經濟從疫情衝擊中逐漸恢復之時，又必須與消費電子產業爭奪晶片需求。
