只要能省錢、天下沒有甚麼不可能事！Nissan和Honda可望合作開發平價電動車

合縱聯盟，共同合作開發設計來降低電動車開發成本，早已是全球汽車產業的通案，因為單打獨鬥實在太吃力了。根 據日經亞洲（Nikki Asia）的報導指稱，日本兩大車廠日產（Nissan）和本田（Honda）正在談判研商，共同開發人人買得起的平價電動車，並能同時反擊來自中國進口的大量廉價電動車的侵襲。這是日經亞洲的一份最新報導，援引未具名的內部人士所透露的情報。
根據日產汽車透露此一訊息的人士指稱，這家總部位於橫濱的汽車製造商希望採用一種通用型的電動車驅動系統，如此Nissan和Honda都可以一起從供應商那裡採購此系統。此外，根據報導，Nissan希望與日本汽車同業共同設計和開發一個共用的電動車平臺。透露訊息的人士表示，這個想法在日產汽車內部目前仍處於初期階段，還沒有Honda立場的相關訊息。
如果兩家汽車製造商達成協定，未來他們可能會考慮開發整車並聯手採購電池。開發電動車，尤其是具有誘人價格的入門級車型，對車商來說是一個巨大的挑戰。西方汽車製造商認為，在電動車領域很難競爭，因為中國品牌可以為消費者提供價格實惠的電動車，而且還獲利。因此，歐盟委員會正在考慮對中國製造的電動車課徵報復性關稅，以維持健康的市場競爭水平。
然而，Stellantis集團執行長上洛斯塔瓦雷斯（Carlos Tavares）等汽車產業的頭 頭們認為，這是行不通的。塔瓦雷斯認為，解決方案應該是在中國電動車「被視為威脅的地區」使用來自中國的技術，去製造電動車。
當然，這也會帶來一些挑戰和障礙。例如，在美國，如果當地車商希望他們的車輛有資格獲得 7,500 美元的扣抵獎勵補助，他們就不能使用來自「受關注的外國實體」的電池材料，簡單地說，電動車絕不能使用中國的電池及其技術。
有鑑於此，一些汽車製造商不得不發揮創意，和一些他們原本不太可能合作的公司，建立合作夥伴關係。像是本田汽車開發 Prologue（包括本田副牌Acura對應的電動車 ZDX）而言，本田是透過和通用汽車的合作來開發了這些電動車。因此，他們採用通用汽車的BEV3平臺做為開發為基礎，並使用通用的Ultium電池和驅動電動馬達，而本田汽車也和索尼（SONY）合作打造電動豪華房車Afeela。
通用汽車和本田打算共同開發小型且價格合理的電動車，但由於更大的商業環境的變化，這家日本汽車製造商最終退出了合作夥伴關係。另一方面，日產及其雷諾日產聯盟中的合作夥伴三菱，以及雷諾，已共同投資數十億美元，到2030年將推出三方合作開發的全新電動車。
