下一代HONDA美規Odyssey將搭載新引擎系統

在能源危機的影響以及國際原油價格持續上漲的推波助瀾之下，各大車廠莫不致力於改善引擎能源效益，其中以環保自許的HONDA本田車廠，在這一方面自是不能落於人後，再加上於引擎技術上確有其獨到之處，因此在省油效率上，HONDA一直是處於領先地位。
如今市場上普遍耗油較兇的車款，除了排氣量大的貨卡車，當推休旅車莫屬，特別是這個市場等級的車種在近年來的成長也相當快速，因此HONDA車廠也打算先從這一方面下手來進一步改善油耗的經濟性，最先開刀的對象將是Odyssey。
Odyssey是HONDA旗下的重量級MPV，在市場上相當受到消費者的喜好，因此若能改善其能源效率，市場的接受度也會有更正面的發展。根據最新的情報指出，即將全新大改款的美規版Odyssey，將會搭載全新的3.5升V6引擎，就像先前推出的新款Inspire一般，在定速巡航時引擎會自動關閉一半汽缸的運作，也就是六缸只剩下三缸在運作，可以減少不必要的能源消耗，同時也不會影響到車子的性能。
以Inspire車款來說，在這套引擎間歇系統的介入下，燃油的經濟性提高的約將近二成，對於一向吃油如飲水的廂型休旅車而言，這將是不小的助益。如今美國汽車市場的消費者對於燃油的經濟效果越來越重視，柴油車與Hybrid動力混合車的佔有率不斷攀升，HONDA則讓消費者又在動力的選擇上多一個。
