2002HONDA重返台灣，以CR-V為開路先鋒，重振HONDA在台灣的士氣，2003年底全新第七代HONDA Accord以第二主將的身分，在台上市，投入國內最火熱的國產中大型房車市場。

1990年還是南陽代理的時代，南陽導入第四代車款在台生產，開啟了Accord國產化第一步，一直以來HONDA優異的性能與操控性，以及寬敞的空間規劃，深受眾多車迷愛戴，第四代導入國產時，採與進口Accord並行的方式銷售，進口車款使用2.2升引擎，國產則搭載2.0升引擎，在1990年代初期2.0升的國產中型房車，在國內並不似現在為市場的銷售主力，在2.0升房車還未盛行的年代，擁有2.0升房車的車主通常都有一定的收入水準。

1994年五代Accord上市，同樣採進口與國產並行銷售的方式，五代Accord車身尺碼較前一代放大許多，車身線條更為圓潤流線，完全跳脫原有的風格，甚至被本田車迷譽為最不像Accord的Accord，但是這一代的Accord也是在七代Accord上市前，賣的最好的一代Accord。1997年後受到對手輩出，Accord受到嚴重的威脅。

隔年〈1998〉六代Accord在備受期待下上市，外型風格稍稍回歸類似四代時的修長線條，向來HONDA強調的車輛本質與車室空間，六代Accord在同級車中仍是佼佼者，但當時國內汽車市場在惡質的競爭下，市場已轉為以配備多寡取勝，Accord的特點著實被埋了下來；國產六代Accord同時首度生產3.0升V6引擎之頂級車款，也是本次試駕國產七代Accord 3.0的開河前輩。

2002年HONDA以原廠身分回到台灣，隔年Accord導入國產，除了主力銷售的2.0升車款外3.0升車款也一併導入；國產化的七代Accord是以美規車款為基礎，再針對台灣市場修飾，外觀上七代Accord仍延續六代Accord的家族風格，但各項元素都與以圓化放大，明亮的大型三角型頭燈與修長的引擎室線調，與HONDA當紅敞篷車S2000非常相似，在光線充足均勻的室外，自引擎室前方延頭燈向後平視，由引擎室圓弧角度反射出來的間層光折射，是觀賞七代Accord最美的角度，而同樣被放大的尾燈組，乍看之下並不是太吸引人，但是卻非常耐看，越看還越別一番獨特的風味。
