在上週HONDA Taiwan宣布第三輛導入國產的車款為八代Civic後，引起熱烈反應，除了各大汽車討論區相關話題不斷，國內大報更是以不小的篇幅，報導國產八代〝喜美〞的消息，在Civic於2002年在台灣停止銷售以來，許久沒有看見〝喜美〞這兩個字如此火紅，可見大家對〝喜美〞車系熟悉與關切的程度，但是〝喜美〞這兩個字也可能成為八代Civic國產後最大的包袱！

許多人一定會問Civic在台灣的中文名不就是喜美嗎？沒錯！在早期車商為了讓國人更容易記住車型，都會為新車取中文譯名，喜美、速利、天王星…等等許多車型大家都是耳熟能響。
但是在台灣，還是有很多消費者有著嚴重的品牌情節、以偏概全與口耳相傳的習性，對於買車時，考量口碑、品牌形象甚至國家情節遠大過於車輛本身產品特色，也讓國內的車商在經營品牌形象上煞費苦心，歷來旗下歷代車款，只要有一款車出現負面消息，可能就賠上了整個品牌。
而Civic除第一代數量較少外，自第二代起在台灣就從未缺席，而Civic的熱銷也讓其成了HONDA的在台的看板車型，以中文名稱行銷的方式，雖讓大家輕易的記住Civic車系，但也讓許多消費者將喜美就當成了HONDA的中文譯名，造成車款名與品牌名混淆的情形，現在還是有人會將HONDA說成喜美，還是會出現喜美雅歌、喜美CR-V的錯誤說法，這也是HONDA重新建立品牌形象時的困擾之一。
再來由於HONDA一向以優異性能與操控性著稱，再加上Civic合理的價位與改裝空間大，讓年輕族群趨之若鶩，血氣方剛之下造成不少遺憾事件，人們始終不會怪罪自己，往往將責任歸咎於車輛問題，再加上國內媒體向來對汽車無知的渲染報導下，讓當年的喜美車系背上了不安全的負面形象。
也就因為這莫須有的沉痛形象，自第七代Civic開始就以全面不再使用中文的喜美，而在HONDA Taiwan宣布八代Civic為國產第三款車型時，也籲請在場的媒體朋友，不要再使用〝喜美〞兩字，期望能藉由媒體的力量，逐漸擺脫以往的負面包袱，以全新的角度迎接即將上市的八代Civic。
至此，也許會有人說筆者一定是HONDA車迷，或是HONDA Taiwan花錢買廣編，才會在此長篇闊論，但筆者並非僅針對HONDA，只是以此例期望大家在看車、購車時，拋開以往固有的觀念，以每一輛車看待每一輛車，都放下過去的種種，認同每一家車廠的努力；至於〝喜美〞這兩個字用不用，是個人自由，不過別再看見HONDA就都說成〝喜美〞就好！
最後順帶提一下，SUBARU也不是大慶汽車，見到HYUNDAI也別叫王記了，這都是以往總代理的名稱，而非品牌名，以後可得看清講明~~~！
