HONDA新Civic日本試駕（8）-TOYOTA最怕的還是HONDA

雖然TOYOTA在全球車廠中的第二，已經是坐二望一，但真正害怕的車廠並非歐美老廠，而是HONDA，因為HONDA有許多技術與科技是TOYOTA所望塵莫及的，就連產品定位和設計也獨具風格。
由於HONDA是從本田技研為基礎發展而來，對於從紡織起家的TOYOTA而言，就如同科班與半路出家一樣，縱使HONDA在全球銷售並不如TOYOTA多，但涉略層面卻遠廣於TOYOTA，尤其成功研發出噴射機後，更通包陸海空領域，也難怪TOYOTA會收購GM所持有SUBARU股權，表面上是幫GM抒解財務困境，實際上可能為了取得航太技術。
再者，HOMDA鑽研底盤與動力多年，直到最近才開始著重於舒適性與設計感，相較於一開始以國民車為起點的TOYOTA，所有的設計均以市場為主，鮮少會為了駕馭樂趣而做更進一步開發，只是這幾年來為了歐洲市場，便著重在這一部份。也難怪全球媒體均對HONDA的底盤結構和VTEC讚譽有加，而對於TOYOTA的評語，一般都是好開便利的交通工具。
另外，TOYOTA的Hybrid系統簡直造成車壇科技新革命，許多國際大廠都必須向TOYOTA尋求援助，唯獨HONDA，不但開發出獨立的Hybrid系統，運用在二輪與四輪產品上，甚至氫燃料電池業已經開始進行租賃，光這點，不僅比TOYOTA快，甚至還跑在前頭。而最受全球小朋友歡迎的機器人Asimo，兩腳獨立行走的技術與類人型外觀，早就成為許多重要場合的親善大使。
離新Civic國產化大約還有半年時間，但台灣許多車廠早就已經進入備戰狀態，尤其TOYOTA，因為新Corolla要等到2007年才會問世，在這將近一年的時間要以現行款進行決戰，雖然行銷是TOYOTA拿手好戲，但面對強敵新Civic問世壓力也頗大，至於其他品牌也就無須多說，大夥的壓力都非常大。
其實TOYOTA天不怕、地不怕，最怕的還是技術本位的HONDA。
