    HONDA新Civic日本試駕(8)-TOYOTA最怕的還是HONDA

雖然TOYOTA在全球車廠中的第二,已經是坐二望一,但真正害怕的車廠並非歐美老廠,而是HONDA,因為HONDA有許多技術與科技是TOYOTA所望塵莫及的,就連產品定位和設計也獨具風格。


由於HONDA是從本田技研為基礎發展而來,對於從紡織起家的TOYOTA而言,就如同科班與半路出家一樣,縱使HONDA在全球銷售並不如TOYOTA多,但涉略層面卻遠廣於TOYOTA,尤其成功研發出噴射機後,更通包陸海空領域,也難怪TOYOTA會收購GM所持有SUBARU股權,表面上是幫GM抒解財務困境,實際上可能為了取得航太技術。

再者,HOMDA鑽研底盤與動力多年,直到最近才開始著重於舒適性與設計感,相較於一開始以國民車為起點的TOYOTA,所有的設計均以市場為主,鮮少會為了駕馭樂趣而做更進一步開發,只是這幾年來為了歐洲市場,便著重在這一部份。也難怪全球媒體均對HONDA的底盤結構和VTEC讚譽有加,而對於TOYOTA的評語,一般都是好開便利的交通工具。

另外,TOYOTA的Hybrid系統簡直造成車壇科技新革命,許多國際大廠都必須向TOYOTA尋求援助,唯獨HONDA,不但開發出獨立的Hybrid系統,運用在二輪與四輪產品上,甚至氫燃料電池業已經開始進行租賃,光這點,不僅比TOYOTA快,甚至還跑在前頭。而最受全球小朋友歡迎的機器人Asimo,兩腳獨立行走的技術與類人型外觀,早就成為許多重要場合的親善大使。

離新Civic國產化大約還有半年時間,但台灣許多車廠早就已經進入備戰狀態,尤其TOYOTA,因為新Corolla要等到2007年才會問世,在這將近一年的時間要以現行款進行決戰,雖然行銷是TOYOTA拿手好戲,但面對強敵新Civic問世壓力也頗大,至於其他品牌也就無須多說,大夥的壓力都非常大。

其實TOYOTA天不怕、地不怕,最怕的還是技術本位的HONDA。
