HONDA Beat復活有望，660cc+MR更有趣

在HONDA社長福井威夫宣布頂級超跑NSX開發計畫中止後，讓許多車迷大感失望，然而對HONDA來說與其花大筆經費研發銷售量不多的產品，倒不如走低價樂趣路線，根據AutoNet所掌握的最新訊息顯示，1996年停產的660cc輕型MR小跑車Beat有可能再度復活。
1991年誕生的Beat，可是HONDA第一輛中置引擎後輪驅動的輕型敞篷跑車，並和MAZDA/SUZUKI AZ-1/Cara、SUZUKI Cappuccino並列1990年代日本三大樂趣車，然而受到泡沫經濟的衝擊，Beat於1996年停產，但至今仍在中古車市場相當活躍。然而在中止超級跑車的開發計畫後，HONDA遂將目標轉向人人可負擔的輕型車領域，因此Beat可能在2011年有望再度復出。
根據獲得的資料顯示，新一代Beat在外觀上依然為敞篷雙座設定，並採用中置引擎、後輪驅動模式，底盤平台來自HONDA的FF輕型車為基礎，不過軟篷車頂將被電動硬頂敞篷所取代，動力上則搭載660cc渦輪增壓引擎，且配置五速手排變速箱，鎖定族群為開始退休的團塊世代，就是戰後嬰兒潮的歐吉桑。
至於這款輕型敞篷車是否真能出現，除了端賴接下來景氣，還得看看HONDA的決心和遠見。
