美國積極發展替代性能源車種！

石油資源日漸減少，油價不斷上漲，替代性能源與動力已成為各大車廠研發的重點之一，八月中在美國舉行的替代能源研討會中，這項議題被廣泛的討論，現行在美國積極發展的燃料電池車種(Fuel Cell)，預計在五至十年的時間，才有可能大量生產上市，而目前擁有最完整Hybrid油電混合動力車系的TOYOTA則表示，未來將持續增加Hybrid車型，讓消費者有更多的省油選擇。

目前在美國加州正進行一項燃料電池發展計畫，共結合了包括：TOYOTA、HONDA、GM、DAIMLER-CHRYSLER與FORD等車廠，於加州投入研究燃料電池車型的可行性，加州在2010年前將建構完整的加氣站網路，以利燃料電池車款發展。而現在各車廠除了必須解決加氣站不普遍的問題外，燃料電池的高成本問題，若無法各服成本問題，將會大幅降低消費者的購買意願，而各車廠表示，最快也必需再等五至十年，燃料電池車種才有可能正式上路。

至於Hybrid車種方面，美國目前以有多款Hybrid新車投入市場，接獲得不錯的成績，積極推行Hybrid車種的TOYOTA，旗下的Prius每年約可賣出10萬輛，而LEXUS的RX400H，以及Highlander則各約可以賣出2萬7000輛，可見Hybrid車種受歡迎的程度，TOYOTA預計明年上市的全新大改款Camry，也將同步推出Hybrid車種，佔進環保房車市場。
