    展翼高飛實現夢想,HONDA名揚車壇61載(3)

HONDA 1300
由於日本經濟高度成長始於1960年,而此時HONDA為了實現便利個人化交通工具的夢想,開始著手進行便宜好開又方便的四輪汽車,1962年的輕型貨車T360、1963年的小型跑車S500陸續問世,兩者所代表的意義包含精緻技術提昇與真正日本小型跑車設計功力,T360採用雙凸輪軸引擎在當持堪稱創舉,而S500則由本田宗一郎親自設計,8000rpm高轉速就此成為HONDA引擎的標準。兩款車在60年代初期宛如旋風般,橫掃整個市場。

T360
為了提升整體形象,並展現傲人的技術,HONDA於1964年宣布進軍F1賽事,1965年在墨西哥賽事中拿下優異成績,這點就連最會銷售的TOYOTA也作不到。

1967年,HONDA發表輕型車N360,雖然只是單純的小型車,卻十足代表日本汽車技術,因為前輪驅動前置引擎的設計和自排變速系統,都是革命性的創舉,尤其又將非常高檔的天窗列為選用配備,才推出即造成轟動,短短三個月內便拿下銷售冠軍,直到1970年都連續成為市場的熱銷車款,就連TOYOTA Publica也無法媲美。而HONDA對於創造夢想,遠不同於其他獲利當前的大廠,因為本田宗一郎的堅持,才能將許多科技帶給消費者。

1969年,成立小型車部門,HONDA 1300 77/99系列登場,雖然排氣量增加,但採用空冷引擎而噪音較大的缺點,讓這款車陷入銷售困境,其實這和本田宗一郎本身有關,因為在HONDA,幾乎所有開發事務都由本田宗一郎決定,要求空冷引擎也是他的堅持,因而與市場發生分歧,導致企業內部出現不同的聲音。所幸在經過長時間的協調後,終於決定開發水冷引擎。

同時,為了提振日本國內賽車運動,並擁有自己的試車場,1963年由HONDA獨資的鈴鹿賽車場完工,並舉辦許多當地大型比賽,除了可藉機測試自家產品的能耐,也可順便取得其他對手車輛的數據,來提升本身的戰鬥力。
