HONDA次世代泛用型發動機iGX400，全球首創電子控制式轉速技術

以發動機起家的HONDA，於四月20日發表了次世代泛用型新機種iGX400，除了擁有更低的污染與高經濟油耗外，更採用世界首創電子控制轉速新技術，而這種技術一旦成熟，未來將可使用在汽機車引擎上。
排氣量438cc、可發揮15hp馬力的空冷四行程單缸iGX400發動機，其所使用的電子控制式引擎轉速技術STR（Self Tuning Regulator）Governor，基本上就是利用ECU運算與供油量變化，自動調整引擎轉速，來維持發動機穩定運轉。此外，為了提升操作上的便利性，捨棄傳統的線組，而使用無線傳輸來取代。這點也是目前汽車引擎所無法克服之處，所以有了這次成功的例子，相信HONDA可在短時間內開發出符合汽機車使用的引擎。
這具最新研發的發動機，已通過美國環境保護局Phase II與CARB加州大氣資源局TierII的設定值，並較標準值減少30％的空污。如果與同級的發動機相較，油耗經濟性提升15％，噪音值也減少4dB。
