世界頂尖的科學家，目前正積極以遺傳基因工程學進行各項相關研究，而發展出複製羊、牛、無子西瓜等產品，而HONDA除了賣汽機車外，也跨足到生化領域，就連稻米也插上一腳。
全球糧食目前屬於短缺問題，隨著人口數逐漸增加，糧食問題也日漸浮出檯面，再加上這幾年大自然反撲所造成的災害，幾乎北回歸線上的世界穀倉都受到重挫，因此日本HONDA旗下的HONDA生化研究單位，與名古屋大學共同研發出能增加稻米產量的新方法。
名為Gn1a的新方法，可算是遺傳基因工程學的一大成就，藉由對稻芽基因結構作改變，並加上sd1遺傳因子，每一株稻穗可增加23％的稻米量。如此一來對於現有的稻米產量，有明顯的增加趨勢。
雖然HONDA是以發動機起家，不過若沒有先將人的肚子填飽，哪裡能工作賺錢買車，所以HONDA發展糧食改造科技確實是明智之舉，只不過所生產的稻米，會不會每一粒都出現HONDA廠徽呢？
