整個HONDA四輪事業部的獲利全靠尚未誕生之新Fit？這是怎麼一回事？竟然要讓這款小型掀背車肩負重責大任？
被TOYOTA視為最可敬對手的HONDA，2007年第一季全球表現還算不錯，在北美、亞洲與歐洲總計成長7.7﹪、銷售達3652000輛成績下，日本市場卻呈現衰退，但受到國際原物料價格飆漲，獲利卻相對減少，尤其各國經銷商獲利都明顯降低，且日本仍有1萬多輛的庫存壓力，因此HONDA就將新Fit視為日本國內市場的救世主。
其實以日本市場來看，高齡少子化的現象日趨嚴重，再加上戰後嬰兒潮的「團塊世代」陸續從企業退休，與M型社會形成，民眾對於汽車的要求呈現兩極化，要不就是高單價的進口車與跑車，或者純粹代步用低價660cc輕型車，而一般消費者因養不起車讓房車與SUV很難銷售，反倒是小型車受到青睞，因此在現行 Fit年事已高、吸引力不再的情況下，HONDA可是相當期待新車型的問世。
據了解Fit的車身尺碼為3895×1695×1525mm，軸距達2450mm，動力上共有直四1.3升與1.5升兩種排氣量，在日本當地主力擺在1.3升，海外市場則以1.5升為主，因此像台灣、北美、歐洲等在2008年都會推出1.5升新Fit。基於是入門車型，也是消費者成為HONDA的基本門檻，因此HONDA對於望新Fit可是寄予厚，這也是何以說HONDA獲利與Fit有密切關係的緣故。
