    HONDA VETC概念來自串燒?

VTEC(Variable Valve Timing and Value Life Electric Control System),這種開可變氣門正時系統先驅的技術,可是HONDA相當引以為傲的獨門絕技,藉由電子控制、引擎轉速所做出的氣門揚程與正時的動做,來達到提升燃燒效率和功率輸出,這可是汽車動力科技的一大突破,但你知道這種概念來自什麼地方嗎?答案竟然是居酒屋的串燒檯!

日本人向來喜歡在下班後小酌,物美價廉的居酒屋就成為最佳場所,喝著酒吃串燒,一趟下來可是「酒足飯飽」,此乃人生一大樂事,當然本田技研的員工也是如此。不過在居酒屋裡,這群頂著動力工學技術的人卻發明了一項影響日後汽車動力結構,也就是眾所皆知的VTEC可變氣門正時系統,當然不是喝得醉醺醺才突發奇想,而是從居酒屋老闆烤串燒時得來的靈感。

話說80年代正當全球經歷石油危機,各車廠都在為了動力油耗尋求解決之道,日本本田技研的工程師則以開發能改變氣門開啟時辰與角度為前提,卻苦無滿意的方案,所以如往常一群人下班後前往居酒屋洩壓,正當喝著酒看著老闆在燒烤檯烤串燒時,卻發現當一串串燒烤擺在佈滿木炭的燒烤檯上時,底下的木炭稍得相當旺,當翻面的瞬間火苗稍微變小些,且當串燒移動時底下的火苗多有變化,這下可吸引這群工程師的眼光,便在居酒屋看老闆表演,第二天馬上提出方案,VTEC在1988年就這樣被發明出來。

所以一串串的燒烤可影響整個汽車動力發展,看來那家居酒屋的老闆真要向HONDA收取高額的智慧財產,沒有串燒哪來的VTEC啊!
