已經將觸角伸及陸海空的HONDA，早就已經投入太陽能電池領域，如今更創造出自行開發的新世代太陽能電池板，以期能有效降低二氧化碳並防止地球暖化。
其實太陽能電池板過去就已經開始發展，然而礙於技術和材質不夠純熟，因此僅能走向大面積、厚度高但發電量不足的笨重路線，當然價格上也因此變得不甚人性化，經過數十年的發展，太陽能電池板的前景似乎被眾人看好，因為現在可是以輕薄高功率的向市場招手。
以發動機起家的HONDA，只要是與動能有關的幾乎全都包，2006年在日本鈴鹿廠和熊本廠加裝太陽能供電系統，以提供更多的電力需求。2007年起熊本廠進行擴建工程，目前一年可生產27.5Mkw總能的太陽能電池板，這種以超薄技術為前提所開發的新世代太陽能電池，其材質為銅、CIGC等化合物，除了製造過程中能減少廢氣污染，使用太陽能電池更可有效降低對傳統能源的依賴，並替地球溫室效應盡一份心力。
眾車廠拼命發展省油結能車，一方面喊著要節省地球資源，但真正落實的卻沒有幾家，尤其在燃料電池的製造與氫燃料加壓過程中，所排放的污染遠大於傳統氣柴油引擎，目前HONDA在全世界共有15個相關企業，採用自家開發製造的太陽能電池板，這倒是值得其他車廠借鏡。
