油電動力複合式汽車使用鋰電池，一直是廣為各大車廠推崇，但卻有一家車廠表示不同的看法。日本車廠HONDA認為現階段繼續使用鎳電池才是上上之策。
HONDA總裁Takeo Fukui在接受美國媒體訪問時指出，就電池的蓄電力來看，鋰電池的持久性和可靠性皆不如鎳電池。可想而知，即將在明年初推出的HONDA油電車款，將會繼續沿用鎳電池，來與TOYOTA Prius一較高下。
HONDA對於這台油電車可說是寄予厚望，希望能順利達到一年20萬輛的銷售成績，目前已得知這台油電車的價格將會低於HONDA Civic油電版，增加對消費者的吸引力。不過說到鋰電池，HODNA也不全然抱持著觀望的態度。
事實上HONDA決定在FCX Clarity燃料電池車上使用鋰電池，但第一代車款的蓄電力會偏低也是無法克服的障礙，同時價格也會偏高。HONDA沿用鎳電池，成本想必是考量之一。
