    依循賽事規則,HONDA發表全新HR22T 2.2L V6渦輪增壓WEC賽車引擎

雖然HONDA在今年才宣佈以引擎供應商的身分重新回到F1,但不但表在其他種類的賽車賽事也看不到HONDA的影子,而旗下位於美國的HONDA Performance Development(簡稱HPD),就一直是美國INDY Car賽事以及WEC世界耐力錦標賽的引擎開發單位,而近來為了因應Automobile Club de l'Ouest對WEC賽事的規則修改,HONDA便推出了全新的HR22T 2.2L V6渦輪增壓引擎。

事實上,HONDA一直以來都為參與WEC世界耐力錦標賽、ALMS美國利曼賽事兩項賽事的賽車提供V8自然進氣引擎,如今在規則修改的原因之下,HONDA決定以INDY Car賽事的2.2L V6引擎為基礎,搭配上渦輪增壓系統、燃油缸內直噴技術以及動能回收系統,打造出全新的HR22T 2.2L V6渦輪增壓引擎。

這具針對2014年賽季規則設計的新引擎,可裝載在LMP1與LMP2等級的賽車上,至於選用HONDA這具引擎的車隊,還能夠事自行需求來決定要不要裝備動能回收系統,至於這套全新的動能回收系統則是HONDA與Magneti Marelli合作開發之下的成果。

另外為了讓全新的2.2L V6渦輪增壓引擎與動能回收系統的搭配能夠發揮最佳實例,HPD也與打造底盤的合作夥伴Wirth Research開始著手全新ARX原型賽車的底盤開發動作;至於引擎各項詳細數據方面,原廠目前並未公布任何資料。
