2012年6月11日，APPLE於WWDC年度全球開發商大會（Worldwide Developer Conference）發表多項嶄新科技，其中包括將Siri人工智慧助理軟體與車用系統整合、名為「Siri Eyes Free Mode」免視功能的全新應用模式，藉由語音控制解決車用系統導致車主分心、影響行車安全的問題。除了GM集團率先響應，預計今年初將「Siri Eyes Free Mode」搭載於CHEVROLET Spark與Sonic之上，最近HONDA也表態支持，宣佈同樣會在今年為Accord、以及旗下高級品牌ACURA的ILX、RDX配置此一系統。

HONDA Accord

一旦車輛搭載由APPLE推出的「Siri Eyes Free Mode」，車主只要將iPhone與車內USB接孔相連結，便可藉由設置於方向盤的按鈕啟動Siri，藉由聲控方式進行播接電話、收發短訊及查詢地圖等功能，諸如電影時刻、天氣、音樂播放等娛樂功能也能透過聲控完成，正如「Siri Eyes Free Mode」的〝Eyes Free〞之意，讓雙眼得到自由、不需分神操控車用系統的各項功能，能夠專注駕駛，提升行車安全。

據了解，「Siri Eyes Free Mode」於去年中旬發表之後，APPLE即宣稱AUDI、BMW、CHRYSLER、GM、HONDA、JAGUAR、LAND ROVER、M-BENZ、TOYOTA八家主流車廠已同意將旗下車款與Siri人工智慧助理軟體整合；此外FORD集團與HYUNDAI集團已經與MicroSoft合作開發車用資訊系統，因此目前無法與APPLE進一步合作。

不過，雖然GM及HONDA已經以實質行動，證明了對APPLE「Siri Eyes Free Mode」的支持，不過由於各大車廠幾乎均已擁有自家開發的車用資訊系統，例如GM的On star系統、BMW的iDrive系統等，因此「Siri Eyes Free Mode」導入車款的方式將為〝附加〞而非〝取代〞。由於新一代iOS6的Siri支援繁體中文語音，或許未來國內車主也有機會享受中文語音控制的駕駛樂趣也說不定。
