在雙動力Hybrid領域HONDA雖然成就較TOYOTA小，但無污染的燃料電池車卻居於領先地位，如今福井威夫社長向全世界宣布，2009年推出燃料電池機車。
已經開始在北美地區銷售的HONDA FCX燃料電池車，以無污染、低經濟性為主要訴求，當然在諸多相關技術陸續成熟後，儼然和TOYOTA Prius劃清界線，除了四輪汽車外，以動力與夢想為企業元素的HONDA，更宣布在四年後推出搭載燃料電池的機車，以因應目前全球能源短缺的頹勢。
早在2004年八月，HONDA便推出燃料電池速克達的原型車，如今藉由另一家在電池科技有卓越成就的YAMAHA，兩者通力合作下，燃料電池機車已經不再是夢想。目前整個開發計畫已經納入原廠當急之務，因此量產車型最快可在2008年現身。
